The Super Pump adds air to the sealed air chamber of an air entrainment meter. Once the initial pressure is reached, the air is released into the vessel containing the concrete and the percentage of entrained air can be determined. The Pump has a large, easy-grip handle and builds pressure quickly. It must be properly maintained to prevent air leakage.

Learn MoreThe H-2784 Super Air Meter (SAM) is a testing device that measures both the air void spacing and air volume of plastic (fresh) concrete in about 10 minutes. Air void spacing has been shown to be a better indicator of concrete freeze-thaw durability than total air content; however, until now, it has been challenging to measure in fresh concrete.
Learn MorePlacing concrete using a concrete pump has placement advantages due to the increased speed, accessibility, and convenience of operation. Unfortunately, the pumping of air-entrained concrete is known to affect the fresh air content in the fresh concrete.

A steady pumping rate and a nice even stream of concrete coig out the hose goes a long way to controling lossof entrained air…
Learn MoreApr 04, 2021 · Significance and Use of ASTM C231. This test's purpose is to get the air content of a sample of concrete using a pressure meter. In the meter you have a known volume of air at a known pressure in a sealed air pot with an unknown volume of air being contained inside the sample of wet concrete.
Learn MoreNov 01, 2019 · The entrained air component plays a critical role in ensuring the durability of the concrete and is the focus of this Tech Brief. It provides background on the mechanisms responsible for freeze-thaw damage, discusses the importance of critical saturation, and introduces specific strategies to better establish an acceptable entrained air-void
Learn MoreTHE SAM MEASURES WHAT MATTERS ABOUT YOUR CONCRETE. Concrete needs the right bubble size in order to survive in freezing climates. The Super Air Meter (SAM) is a modified version of the typical pressure method and can measure the bubble size and volume in wet concrete in about 10 minutes. This ensures you are placing concrete that is freeze thaw durable with more consistent air volume.
Learn MoreThis was observed in both the lab and field mixtures by hardened air-void analysis, freeze-thaw testing, and the Super Air Meter. This means that current specifications for testing air-entrained concrete after a pump should be modified. 1:45 p.m.
Learn MoreThe full scale field measurements using Super Air Meter were also conducted on fresh air-entrained concrete to study the effects of pumping [16]. A good agreement was found between SAM test

Learn MoreJan 28, 2021 · This presentation will discuss changes in the volume of air entrained concrete in pumped concrete. The work shows that during pumping the air volume will decrease and if measured immediately after pumping will be lower than what is found in the final concrete. These findings are supported by hardened air void analysis, freeze thaw tests, and measurement of the air void volume and spacing over time in the fresh concrete with the Super Air Meter.
